detailed investigation into philosophical logic

(Art & Language )
Atkinson, Terry and Michael Baldwin
PART OF A SHORT LESSON
n.p. (Zurich): n.p. (Editions Bischofberger), n.d. (c. 1967)
30 x 21cm, 6pp printed recto only plus wrappers.
Stapled. First edition of this artists' book.
Three objections to various propositions are made
and a reply given to all such statements those
relating to potential objections to the objective
role of such statements. Yep, complicated this
semiology stuff especially when a bad writer uses
the word 'objective' too often in a single
sentence. White covers slightly grubby and there
is a biggish paper scuff on the back cover which
has scraped off some of the surface of the card
(the cover is blank on the back so there is no
loss of content at all) but otherwise very good
+. The entire book is signed on the inside rear
cover in pencil by Baldwin. Small limitation but
exact numbers released not known. Rare.

575 uk pounds

Art & Language
AIR CONDITIONING SHOW/AIR SHOW/FRAMEWORKS 1966-7
n.p.: s.p. (Baldwin and Atkinson), 1967
21 x 15cm, 20pp plus wrappers. First edition (an
abstracted version of which was later reprinted
in A+L anthologies and also in Arts Magazine of
1967, the latter thanks to the intervention of
Robert Smithson) of the discussions of the
aesthetic qualities of air conditioning and the
possibilities of using such utilities as elements
in conceptual art. Original plastic binding. Rare
conceptual art and one of the very first A+L
publications. There is a former library stamp on
the internal front cover (this item came
indirectly from a decommissioned library
collection) but otherwise near fine.

450 uk pounds

SIGNED AND DATED BY ATKINSON

(Art & Language )
Atkinson, Terry and Michael Baldwin
22 SENTENCES: THE FRENCH ARMY
Coventry: Precinct Publications, 1968
25 x 20.8cm, 48pp printed recto only plus
wrappers. Comb bound with plasticised covers.
First edition of this artists' book. Atkinson
considers various permutations of order on the
meaning and logic of three concepts - the "French
army", the "collection of men and machines" and
"group of regiments". There is a vertical crease
next to the spine on the front cover where the
stiff wrappers have been unavoidably bent back to
allow reading and there is a former library stamp
on a single internal page (this item came
indirectly from a decommissioned library
collection) but otherwise very good+. This copy
is signed and dated 1968 on the inside front
cover by Atkinson in blue ink. Rare.

395 uk pounds

ONE OF 200 COPIES

(Art & Language )
Atkinson, Terry and Michael Baldwin
UNTITLED (HOT WARM COOL COLD aka "KEY")
n.p. (Coventry): n.p. (Precinct Publications), n.d. (c. 1968)
25 x 20.8cm, 48pp printed recto only plus
wrappers. Comb bound with plasticised covers.
First edition of this artists' book. A detailed
consideration of the four conceptually related
words: "HOT", "WARM", "COOL", "COLD" and the
effects of disjunction (reordering) on the page.
Near fine copy. We understand only 200 copies of
this book were originally issued. Rare.

600 uk pounds

(Art & Language )
Atkinson, Terry and Michael Baldwin
INTRODUCTION TO DISCOURSE 1969
Zurich: Editions Bischofberger, 1969
30 x 21cm, 28pp printed recto only plus wrappers.
Stapled. First edition of this artists' book
thus: the contents of this Art & Language
publication is exactly the same as the earlier
1967 publication entitled :"NOTE TYPOGRAPHY FOR
TEXT BOOK " namely: a detailed investigation into
philosophical logic when applied to the concepts
"The art of Terry Atkinson" and "The art of David
Bainbridge" (both members of Art and Language) .
We believe this NOT to be a second edition but
rather a different artist's book to "Note
Typography..." but restating the same text under
a different context ie the title. Very good. Rare.

475 uk pounds
