MACBA DIRECTOR BARTOMEU MARÍ COMPLETES THE ART AREA TEAM WITH NEW APPOINTMENT

Barcelona, July 2008 - German art historian Friedrich Meschede (1955), head of the Department of Visual Arts of the Berliner Künstlerprogramm at DAAD, has been appointed as the head of the Exhibitions Department at the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA). By appointing Meschede to this newly-created post, Bartomeu Marí (1966), director of MACBA since April 14, has completed the museum’s art area team, which includes representatives from three different generations. The third pillar is Chus Martínez (1972), appointed MACBA’s head curator on May 23 to fill the vacancy left by Marí himself.
